Francesca Burlamacchi

I was born in Florence in 1981 into a family of professionals with an important name: the Burlamacchis are, in fact, one of the oldest noble families of Lucca.
I lived and studied in Florence until I was 26, when I moved to Leghorn and then to Germany, to follow my husband’s work. We currently live in Pietrasanta, on the Tuscan coast, with our two children Niccolò and Sofia and various furry friends.

I inherited my love of the family homes mainly from my father, a man of great culture and depth, with a big heart, an adventurous and charming spirit, a British sense of humour and an extraordinary approach to life. My passion for restoration and the recovery of old things was nurtured by direct experience, first by his side, ever since I was a child, and then walking on my own two feet, up to this last great adventure, the renovation of Casa Burlamacchi.

From my mother, I inherited a love for welcoming and hospitality, a love enriched by the extraordinary privilege of getting to know and discover new people and cultures. This very love and passion are what led me to make it my profession.

Villa San Francesco and Casa Burlamacchi, together with the villa and former farm of Selvaiana, in Camaiore – the current residence of my parents Pio and Chiara – have been in our family for generations and are part of our history. In particular, the houses in Bagni di Lucca are part of the foundations of the Burlamacchi history.

However, in the current times, being able to maintain these properties requires great commitment, hence the decision, in 2008, to undertake this activity and share them with our guests – to keep them alive, lived and loved, just as we love them.
